Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Experience in Łódź

Participating in the Erasmus+ staff mobility programme at the Medical University of Łódź was a valuable and enriching academic experience for me, both professionally and personally.

During my mobility, I had the opportunity to visit different departments and clinical units of the University Hospital, meet midwives and healthcare professionals, and learn about the organisation and daily functioning of the clinical services. These observations allowed me to compare different approaches to healthcare and midwifery practice with those in Türkiye.

One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to explore the Simulation Laboratory. I was particularly impressed by its technical facilities and the way simulation-based education is incorporated into healthcare education. This experience gave me new perspectives on how simulation can support students’ clinical skills, decision-making and communication abilities.

I also had the opportunity to visit a local hospital and observe a different healthcare setting. Meeting healthcare professionals and discussing their experiences gave me valuable insights into the Polish healthcare system and the role of midwives in clinical practice.

Beyond the clinical and educational activities, I had the opportunity to meet academic staff, Erasmus coordinators and professionals from different areas of the university. These meetings were particularly meaningful for me because they created opportunities for academic networking and future collaboration. I was especially interested in exploring potential cooperation in women’s health, reproductive health, midwifery education and research.

The mobility also encouraged me to think about future academic collaborations between Tarsus University and the Medical University of Łódź, including student and staff mobility, joint research projects and the possibility of developing a bilateral Erasmus agreement.

I am very grateful to all the professors, coordinators and healthcare professionals who supported me throughout my mobility and generously shared their knowledge and experience. Their kindness and encouragement made me feel welcomed and helped me gain much more from this experience than I had initially expected.

This Erasmus mobility was not only an opportunity to observe a different healthcare and education system, but also an opportunity to broaden my academic perspective, strengthen my international professional network and develop new ideas for future research and collaboration.

I return to Türkiye with new perspectives, valuable professional connections and a strong motivation to continue developing international academic cooperation.
